While computer coding, programming, software and hardware, is always predominantly considered a field to be swarmed by males, there were many women who were bold enough to choose these fields and make a name for themselves. In fact, researchers suggest that women are considered better coders than men only if they hide their gender.
According to one survey conducted in 2013, women make up a very small percentage of software developers, which is 11.2%. The majority of companies in Silicon Valley showed that women occupied less than 20% of the technical positions in their firms in the year 2014, reports Business Insider.
Apparently, HackerRank, which is a free coding practice website that allows developers to hone their coding skills by solving challenges and for companies to find top software developers, also agreed with 20% statistics of women that solves challenges.
In order to find out which are the 10 countries that have the best female coders, the HackerRank team utilized their data on female participants of their challenge.
While Russia topped the list, United States was unable to feature in the top 10 countries, as it came in at no. 14.
